Alpha Engine: Where Restaking Meets Avail’s High Throughput & MEV Revenue
A new partnership between Symbiotic, Avail, and Radius allows rollups to maximize revenue through MEV (Maximum Extractable Value) collection while ensuring security via restaking and high throughput on the Avail Network.
Rollups are revolutionizing blockchain scalability but face a significant challenge: sustainable economic growth. The Alpha Engine is a unique solution that combines three powerful technologies to promote sustainable economic growth for rollups. Symbiotic, Avail, and Radius join forces to form the Alpha Engine, providing essential tools rollups need to scale efficiently and securely while capturing additional network revenue.
The Alpha Engine makes it easier for rollup developers to access economic security, unlock additional revenue sources, and support high-throughput transactions with verifiable data availability. All of this can be achieved for any rollup by integrating the Alpha Engine into their technology stack.
Benefits of Integrating Alpha Engine
Rollup developers inherit several benefits when integrating the Alpha Engine:
MEV Revenue Generation:
Miners and validators have discovered ways to profit from Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) by including, excluding, or reordering transactions within blocks they mine. This value is extracted daily through rollups, and Radius helps rollups capture this value to redistribute it, funding ecosystems and driving growth.
Economic Security:
Symbiotic provides a marketplace where token stakers can supply economic security for application developers who want to protect their applications. Developers can quickly and easily leverage Symbiotic’s marketplace to secure their apps.
High Throughput:
A critical component for scaling rollup throughput at a low cost is access to affordable and secure data blob space. Avail DA provides abundant, secure, and verifiable data blob space to help rollups scale with ease. The Avail network will soon enable cross-chain transactions between rollups supported by Avail through the Avail Nexus.
What Can I Build with Alpha Engine?
The Alpha Engine can be used with all types of rollups, including exchanges, gaming chains, payment systems, and even general-purpose rollups. It can also be used to deploy various network services such as custom sequencing services, intent networks, policy engines, and more.
Decentralized Sequencers
Sequencers are a core component of current rollup architecture, often operated by centralized services. With the Alpha Engine, developers can deploy decentralized sequencing services on the Avail network. These services are economically secured by Symbiotic’s restaking protocol and can capture MEV through Radius. This sequencing service can then be utilized by rollup developers building on the Avail Network.
Intent Networks
Intent networks allow users to specify what they want to achieve while the network finds the best way to accomplish it.
How it works: Suppose you want to swap token A for token B. Instead of selecting a specific route, you simply state your desired outcome. The intent network then analyzes various factors—market conditions, slippage, fees, and network congestion—to find the most optimal way to execute your transaction.
Policy Engines
Policy engines add useful features that can be utilized by multiple parties in a network. For example, in a DeFi protocol, policy engines can protect against stolen assets by using smart policy tools. These tools scan both on-chain and off-chain data to identify suspicious assets. Once detected, they automatically alert the protocol, which can then block these assets from being used.
What is Symbiotic?
Symbiotic is the world’s first slashing-enabled restaking protocol, giving developers access to cryptocurrency economic security. Instead of spending time bootstrapping liquidity to secure network services, developers can quickly and easily utilize slashing-enabled restaked assets from Symbiotic to protect their applications. This allows developers to bring their applications to market faster and at a much lower cost.
How it works: Users deposit funds into Symbiotic vaults. The funds in the vaults can then be used by application developers to secure their apps, with slashing mechanisms in place to penalize malicious behavior. Developers pay fees for these services, and the Symbiotic protocol automatically collects and redistributes these fees to token stakers.
What is Avail?
The Avail Network is a highly optimized network that provides abundant data blob availability space for rollups and other blockchains. It supports large-scale secure verification using KZG commitments and Data Availability Sampling, allowing anyone to run independent light clients to verify data availability without relying on full nodes. Soon, the Avail network will support fast, secure, and verifiable cross-chain transactions between rollups on Avail through Avail Nexus.
What is Radius?
Radius is a platform designed to help rollups maximize revenue potential while maintaining security. It includes Lighthouse, which facilitates MEV internalization and helps rollups generate profit through arbitrage strategies, and Secure Block Building (SBB), which leverages zero-knowledge proofs to protect users from harmful MEV attacks like frontrunning. Additionally, Radius enables arbitrage between rollups and supports Ethereum-based liquidity integration to enhance profitability.
